Mrs. Jacqueline Keenan

Peacefully at St. Thomas – Elgin General Hospital on Friday, January 20, 2012, Mrs. Jacqueline Floretta Keenan (nee Sulman) of Port Stanley and formerly of Chatham in her 90th year.  Cherished daughter of the late Eileen and Ted Sulman.  Beloved wife of the late William Duncan (November 1981).  Loving mother of William Douglas and his wife Ruth Ann of Sombra, and Patrick John Charles and his wife Sharon of Port Stanley.  Also survived by her 6 grandchildren Kevin and his wife Kelly-Ann of Windsor, Kerri and her husband Lionel of Ottawa, Kendra and her husband Nelson of Ingersoll, Kent of Sombra, Tyler and his wife Jamie of Toronto, and Ashley and her husband Jeff of New York City.  Also a very proud great grandmother of Nolan, Kennedy, Keenan, Regan, Liam, Owen, Ethan, and Rowan, with 2 more on the way.  Jacqueline is survived by her brother George Sulman of Chatham.  Predeceased by her sisters Patty Coulter, Sue Cumming, and Sally McKay.  Jacqueline was born and raised in Chatham and was a graduate of the University of Guelph.  Jackie owned and operated her own dress shop called Jackie K’s on King Street, for over 20 years before retiring to Port Stanley.  Jacqueline’s desire to remain at home, overlooking her spectacular lakeside view, was facilitated by the support of her many caring friends in Port Stanley.  Special thanks are extended to Dr. John Hofhuis for regular home visits over the past 20 years; to the entire team of 4th floor nurses and staff of St. Thomas –Elgin General Hospital; an amazing Team of caregivers.  Finally to Dr. Terry Evans, ER Doctor of St. Thomas –Elgin General Hospital for his sincere and compassionate care and to making her final days dignified.  Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Thursday January 26th visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  The funeral service will be conducted from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham, on Friday January 27th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Allan Knight officiating.  Interment Arnold Cemetery, Chatham.  Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Canadian Diabetes Association.  On-line condolences may be left at www.alexanderfuneralhome.ca
