
At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday January 15th, 2012, Mrs. Shirley Spicehowicez of Chatham in her 76th year. Cherished daughter of Norah Stoner and the late Albert. Beloved wife of Edmund. Loving mother of Tom Robitaille, Carolee Milliner (Steve), and Jeanne MacNaughton (the late David (2009)). Her life was filled with the love of her 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers George Stoner (1976) and Jim Stoner (2010). Shirley married Edmund in 1967 and this April 29th would have marked their 45th anniversary. Mrs. Spicehowicez worked at Public General Hospital, Chatham, as a RPN and a ward clerk for over 26 years. Shirley was a loving and loyal wife, devoted mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and committed friend to many. Her compassion and generosity extended beyond her career into her everyday life. Shirley was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening and her various crafts including knitting, crocheting and quilting of which she donated many of her handmade items to the hospital’s bazaars and craft sales. All of her family will miss those precious gifts tagged with “Made especially for you by…”. Shirley enjoyed music and dancing. She was an avid reader and formidable card player, and loved her summer trips to Manitoulin Island. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Tuesday January 17th visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 184 Wellington West, Chatham, on Wednesday January 18th at 10:15 a.m. with Father Matthew Kucharski celebrant. Interment St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association, Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
