Mr. John Kosik

John Kosik of Chatham passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Sunday September 16th, 2018, at the age of 79 years.  Son of the late Ignac and Mary Kosik, brother of Elizabeth (Betty) Stubberfield (the late Don).  Predeceased by his devoted wife Lynn 27 days before on August 20th, 2018.  They were happily married and inseparable for 58 years.  Loving father of Jim and his wife Louise, Cheryl Brooks and her husband Garry, Cathy Ouimet and her husband Marc, all of Chatham, Dan and his wife Laura of Blenheim, and John and his wife Michelle of Chatham.  He will be lovingly remembered by his seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Kyle and Sheila Kosik, Ryan Kosik (Stephanie Gilvear), Justin and Elyse Kosik and baby John, Heather Kosik (Devon Brown), Jeff Brooks, Rachel Brooks (Chris Langille) great grandson Zachary, Kevin Brooks. Danielle Ouimet, Devin Ouimet (Emma Nero), and Lauren Ouimet, Paige Kosik (Chris Colasanti), Owen Kosik (Brittany Billard), Wade Kosik, Avery Kosik, Jacob Kosik, Joshua Kosik, and Maxwell Kosik.  Dear brother-in-law of Jim and his wife Loretta Robertson of Chatham, and Sharon Duchene (the late Leonard) of Wallaceburg, and predeceased by his brother-in-law Mike Robertson.  John’s pride and joy was his first car a 1959 Chevy Impala. He and Mom would cruise the “main drag” as he called it when they first met. After that 5 children came along. He was an avid gardener and produced a cash crop of vegetables for his family and friends for many years. He was also a professional wood worker and made many keepsakes for his family and friends.  John retired from Guspro (Sunnen) after 39 years of loyal service. He was a valued employee and his inventions that he developed are still being used by the company to this day.  After retirement John and Lynn spent winters in Florida and made many lasting friendships.  Even in the end, considering their many health issues they supported one another as they did throughout their long marriage. They were the greatest example of what a marriage should be.  We are going to miss them, but we will never forget everything they did for us.  Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Wednesday September 19th with visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 20th, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave., Chatham, with Father Don Pumputis celebrant.  Parish prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.  Cremation to follow with interment to take place at a later date.  Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex in honour of John’s wife Lynn, Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, and/or charity of choice.  On-line condolences may be left at www.alexanderfuneralhome.ca   Very special thanks to the nurses on the 4th floor at CKHA for their kindness, compassion and professional care of Dad (and us).  We would also like to thank Dr. Park Parry for his care of Dad over the years, Dr. Mangel of the LHSC Cancer Clinic, and Dr. Van, Cardiologist.
